2010 Winter Portfolio

The past ten weeks were fractionally inspired, transitional, paced, and trying, among a hundred other adjectives I could toss out in retrospect.
But the deal is that SCAD, but more specifically art, has become part of my fiber as a creature of mortal experience, and I've spent my time settling, however comfortably or not, into this state of being. I have known a fear and a lack of confidence in my artistic abilities I have never known before. But I have also seen what I produce under this self-oppression, and how these lows are also a beautiful part of the crazy ride that brings with it ecstasy and artistic epiphany of the most wondrous kind. The heart's isolation can draw out as honest a self-expression as bliss. But it is not a matter of art being wild, or being quiet. It is a matter of being truth. And beauty awakes in the truth of uninhibited expression.

Intro to Etching
Prof. Debora Oden
This class made me so hungry for inspiration and for raw art. The relationship of paper and copper and ink in the etching process is so beautiful. I would highly recommend this class, professor, and printmaking medium to everyone who wants a real kick of fabulous art.

I LOVE He Who Has Ears to Hear, and the brokenness lady crying. Would love to see them in person. Both are so evocative and the way you handle line contributes beautifully! So lovely, m'dear.
